October 2008

In his book Chasing Daylight, Erwin McManus mentions that nothing matters to God more than relationships. Nancy and I at times feel that we are AIM’s designated contact couple to build relationships. What attracted us to AIM two years ago was their desire to have on staff a missionary couple who has had ‘field’ experiences who could come alongside their missionary community in relational ways. We are very thankful for the variety of 'relational’ type opportunities that we have been asked to be involved in at AIM.

Nancy and I are also very thankful for the partnership relationship that you have had with us over

2007 World Race Team

the years. We continue to be very grateful for your prayers, your support and your sincere interest in our lives.

At this time last year, I was in Thailand with the September 2007 World Race squad. Everyone who was on this squad finished their World Race. We were blessed being coaches for this squad. We learned a lot. We have continued to be in contact with a number of the World Race participants from our squad.

AIM recently implemented a new program that is called ComLife (Community Life). There are eight who are now in the ComLife program with the expectation of at least another three or four joining the program at the start of next year. We have been asked to oversee the mentorship component of the ComLife program and to monitor ComLife’s internship piece.

comLife Meeting

Ten days of training ended a couple of weeks ago for 107 young men and women who had been accepted by AIM for one of their three fall Real Life teams that were going to India, Swaziland and Kenya and for one of their two First Year Missionary teams that were going to South Africa and to Nicaragua. The Real Life teams will return to the U.S. at the end of this year while the First Year Missionary teams will remain in their assigned countries from September into May. We were asked to

be the coaches for the leaders of the Kenya Real Life team. Before they left for Kenya, we were able to spend time with Jason, Shaun, Connie and Kim along with the entire Real Life team.

Another training is scheduled to take place in a couple of weeks. Over 100 participants will be here for another new AIM program – called Breakthrough, and for the next World Race training. As a prayer counselor, Nancy especially will have her time filled talking with young girls who are looking for answers.

Thank you again for joining us on the fulfilling venture that God has had us on for the past couple of years. It continues to be a fascinating, rewarding time for us.

Sincerely,

Gary and Nancy Lengkeek
