We had been told to stop every so often to check on the webbing straps that were holding our car on the transporter that was carrying it. After stopping twice and finding the webbing straps doing what they were designed to do, we did not stop after going over a ‘rolling’ stretch of pavement

near Topeka, Kansas. When we finally stopped just short of Kansas City, we found the passenger side webbing strap neatly lying next to the passenger side tire – as if someone had taken the webbing strap off the tire and had laid it next to the tire. Only the driver’s side webbing strap was keeping our two ton vehicle from a possible disastrous situation. We are very grateful for your prayers that we believe kept us safe during our 1400 mile move from Colorado Springs to Flowery Branch, Georgia.

It has been one month since we arrived in Georgia. With the help of several friends who we worked with at the OC office in Colorado Springs and several friends who we got to know in Colorado Springs, it took us about five hours to load the 26’ U-Haul truck that carried our stuff to Georgia. Minutes after we arrived at the apartment that we are renting in Flowery Springs, about a dozen AIM staff showed up at our place to help us unload the truck. It took them about 45 minutes to get everything off the truck and into our place. It appears that we escaped Colorado cold and snow just in time.

In just ten days, we will once again be back in Guatemala. There are sixteen on this year’s short term dental/medical/ministry team. There are going to be two dentists – including the dentist and his wife who have gone with us the past two years. The Guatemala doctor who joined us last year is going to be with us again this year. Shortly after we were in Guatemala last year, Byran got married. Byran’s wife is going to go with us this year. Two nurses are going to go with us this year. We are planning to spend five days in Languin where Hector began a P.E.B. last year. We will have the opportunity to interact with the students while we are in Languin. From Languin, we will go to Santa Clara. The Santa Clara that we are going to is located above Lake Atitlan. The young couple who has spearheaded these teams the past two years has a Compassion Child in Santa Clara. They will have the chance to visit the young child who they sponsor.

AIM is now sponsoring what is called a “World Race”. The “World Racers” visit eleven countries over an eleven month span – spending one month in each country. You can read the blogs of those who are on the “World Race” that began in Mexico earlier this month by going to www.adventures.org and opening the World Race. Because Team A – which is composed of four smaller teams of five to seven participants, are to be in Guatemala beginning sometime between February 4 and February 10, we are going to lay over in Guatemala to meet Team A and to spend some time with each Team A team of “World Racers” and each “World Race” on Team A. We will so some setup for them as well.

Enclosed is another pledge card. If you have not returned the pledge card that we have already sent to you, we would like to ask you to return the enclosed card. We have found that our mailing list has a lot of telephone numbers that no longer are any good. We also would like to have current e-mail addresses. It is also very encouraging to us to know that you are praying for us. Please especially pray for our upcoming trip to Guatemala – that it will be a safe trip, that everyone will remain healthy and that we will have a very profitable time with the Team A “World Racers”. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Gary and Nancy
