August 2009

The past two weeks have gone by quickly for me since I returned from Guatemala. Most of my first week home was spent recovering from a Montezuma’s Revenge visit. Last week was spent getting back into the office routines. This coming week Nancy and I will be in Phoenix for three days of training.

What I learned recently from spending a month with eight high school age girls and two high school age boys is that young people today are courageous and that they can be trusted when empowered. Several times the young people without any prompting at all spontaneously prayed for someone who they had just met. Nine different churches were visited where at least one program was presented.

Programs included songs sung as solos, duets, trios and as a group – sometimes accompanied by a violin but usually sung acappella, testimonies, skits, Bible readings and the drime that was learned before going to Guatemala.

Three separate schools were visited for presenting programs. Doing prayer walks, sharing one on one with a tract, open air programs, visiting homes, performing over the radio and passing out food that the young people themselves bought were other ministry activities that this very musically talented Ambassador team did while in Guatemala. Airline tickets have been gotten for Nancy and me to be in Lima, Peru from October 21 to October 31. We are going to Lima to spend time with the AIM missionaries who are living in Peru. Bob and Becky Cooley have been living in Lima for the past three years while Crystal Reitsma is living in a community near Iquitos.

For about the past year and a half, Nancy has been the primary person to explain the results of a personal inventory that AIM uses called ‘Leading From Your Strengths’ (LFYS). Ministry Insights – which is the organization that developed LFYS, recently changed some wordage in their extensive reports as well as their initial reporting chart. Attending the upcoming LFYS training will allow Nancy to become a credentialed trainer.

We are very grateful for your prayers and for the gifts that we continue to receive that have made it possible for us to continue to use the years of experiences that we have had as missionaries as well as the training that we are still receiving and the motivational gifts that God has given to us to use. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Gary and Nancy
